The Old Guitarist by Alan Grundy

For solo guitar.

I composed this piece entirely with – guitar in hand – and performed it shortly afterwards at a College where I was teaching. The performance was preceeded by a reading of Lorca’s poem – La Guitarra – by a member of the language department, and the combination of the two (in the opinion of many who were present) was more powerful than the individual parts.
