These ‘Lyrical Songs’ for mezzo-soprano and guitar are based on poems by Piet Hein (1905-1996) from the collection ‘Hjertets Lyre – kærlighedsdigte og -gruk’ (Borgen – 1985).

The whimsical and vividly detailed universe of the poems is reflected in the musical design and character of the songs. The five movements together form a cohesive whole in form and expression. The pieces are sung alternately in Danish and English
