Jord is the mother of the thunder god Thor and the daughter of Nótt (Night) and Anarr (Another). Not much is known about her, but she is associated with ‘Earth’ and so may be interpreted as ‘Mother Earth’, or the untamed physical earth. She is depicted here as a voluptuous woman with long flowing hair.
