Petrichor [(n) pet·ri·chor] is the pleasant and healing smell of rain after a long period of drought. Inspired by Petrichor the word, Petrichor the piece embodies the resurgence of life that follows the first rainfall. Delicate at first, its increasingly intricate textures are floral while its harmonic colors are rich and diverse. To evoke the fluidity and chaos of an overgrown landscape, Petrichor is spontaneous while recurring melodic fragments scattered throughout unify its many dynamic sections. Petrichor invites the listener to engage with a musical narrative that reflects both the enduring and transitory beauty of nature.
