A duet for two guitars. 

“In The Breeze’ was written a few years ago.  I keep returning to it and trying to find the best fingering and expression I can.  It sounds simple, but is challenging to play.  It is influenced by the baroque Air, and should be played mellifluously,  focusing on the melody.  Ideally it should be light and airy, and have a feeling of ebb and flow, drifting, rising and falling gently like a feather in the breeze. The deceptive simplicity comes from the fact that it is almost entirely in two voices, a melody over a bass.I’ve now added an optional second guitar part.  With the second guitar, it is a different piece, with an added layer of harmony which gives some complexity.  For this reason it needs to be played at a slower tempo to give the listener more time.  The second guitar part is easy.  It could be played by a relative beginner.  I see this as a duet that would suit a student and teacher, with the teacher playing guitar 1.  For a more practised duo, the players could exchange parts in the alternating sections.”Andrew Williams
